The Physics Toolbox, Inc. was founded by physics teachers and is maintained by physics teachers! The original company, C.A.P.E., Inc. was designed to serve workshop leaders and participants of the American Association of Physics Teachers PTRA program (www.aapt.org) and users of the Active Physics curriculum (www.its-about-time.com) materials. Although the company has changed names, the goal is the same - to provide creative teaching resources at reasonable prices for workshop leaders and teachers of physics at all levels! Items such as the M-09 Constant Speed Buggy and E-03-A Penguin Race are popular with elementary, secondary, and college teachers because they increase student interest and help connect physics to the everyday world.
In addition to providing classroom materials, The Physics Toolbox, Inc. also provides professional services including physics content training for elementary, middle school, and high school physical science teachers. We have fortified the physics content knowledge of hundred of teachers using units such as STC Motion and Design or FOSS Magnetism and Electricity so that they are able to identify student misconceptions and enhance student understanding beyond the kits. High school physics teachers enjoy our technology workshops using Vernier Probe Technology (www.vernier.com) and Constructing Physics Understanding software (www.learningteam.org).
The Physics Toolbox, Inc. can help curriculum supervisors adapt commercial physics units for closer alignment with local and state science education standards. We also can write custom curriculum units or activities and specialize in integrating problem-based learning with hands-on activities, computer probe technology, and simulation software.
